Pacific Grove Travel Guide

The quiet peninsula town of butterfly sanctuaries, tide pools, and Victorian charm

Pacific Grove guards the tip of the Monterey Peninsula with quiet dignity. Known as Butterfly Town USA, it hosts thousands of migrating monarch butterflies from October through February in a city-protected sanctuary. The Victorian homes along Lighthouse Avenue are some of the best preserved in California. The rocky coastline offers world-class tide pooling and, in certain coves, some of the most reliable otter viewing in the region.
